Inicial Situation

An automotive manufacturer in Spain, presented us a challenge of manoeuvrability and safety inside the supply area; due to the necessity of optimization of the time of delivery in the assembly line.

The totality of castors that were to be incorporated to the metallic containers needed to support a high loading capacity of 2000 kg and be able to absorb any irregularities on the surface along the loading facilities and others. Furthermore, due to the short timing of loading per action that the business had, the containers needed to meet velocity speeds over 16 km/ h.

Our engineers and technicians, raised the following questions for further acknowledge of the situation and thus, helping our client and giving a more tailored made solution to it: How can we guarantee the optimal mobility and manoeuvrability of the trolleys? How can we improve the security of the trolleys without compromising the loading period timing?

The answer presented by our engineers to meet the requirements and goals of our client, was to develop a wheel having as a starting point our series HLSB. Such series adds a sturdy element, and at the same time a great manoeuvrability due to its great offset. The addition of said elements, proportionate an excellent behaviour of the bracket even in cases where it experiences vibrations due to the irregularities of the ground.

The castor selected for the project was our AUSB wheel, manufactured in semi-rigid polyurethane. These two qualities are crucial for the absorbance of the vibrations achieving a maximum stability while maintaining a high speed for the load of the trolley. The project was top off by the incorporation of brakes in the fixed brakets of the set of castors for an easier use for the operators of the containers. This allowed them to stop the trolley without the need of moving around and achieving maximum safety.

The proposed solution was of such great satisfaction for the customer, that was incorporated in other factories of the group.
