Maintenance sector wheels project. Cleaning robots of regular use in spaces that require a great wear and tear and durability

Initial situation

The cleaning and maintenance sector have been increasing significatively over the past decade, this has result in many final customers asking to these businesses for customized and tailored solutions to their specific needs.

A robot cleaning manufacturer presented us the challenge to improve the functionality of their wireless robot range for the maintenance of big surfaces in swimming pools and lakes.

The key was to accomplish for the robots to be able to complete a full cleaning cycle in a large surface, whether it was tilted or a roughened surface. All this, was to be done without losing any productivity while conducting the cleaning and maintenance duties adapting to all type of surfaces.

The main matter that was recall over the whole project was the need for the wheels to be highly resistant to wear and tear as well as requiring minimum maintenance. This main idea needed to be merged with the fact that the wheels needed to be light and that they would contribute to a better maneuverability to the robot.

Another relevant requisite was for the wheels to maintain the aesthetic of the product and the company.

Proposed solution

To satisfy the multiple requirements of the client, our engineers and technicians set the following objectives:

1-Improve the maneuverability of the robot contributing to a better agility and performance.

2-Accomplish great stability in all type of surfaces during its working cycles.

3-Offer an aesthetic, corporative and modern line using light wheels with great mobility.

The final solution presented to the client was a polyurethane “ARO” with a specific “SHORE” hardness. This allowed the Wheel to withstand continues duty cycles under the water, great protection of the surfaces where it would be operating and a great withstand to wear and tear.

The result has been enormously positive, so much that the client has incorporated this solution to all of their other product range of maintenance robots.
